Smallest PET scanner in the world eliminates the need for anesthesia.
The RatCAP is a small, lightweight 3D Positron Emission Tomograph (PET) scanner that is designed to image the brain of an awake, freely moving small rodent.
RatCAP eliminates the need for anesthesia when imaging rat brains, removing the potential adverse effects anaesthesia has had on neuronal studies in small animal models. The RatCAP mechanical system enables the awake animal to move freely about a cage or Skinner box while the brain is being imaged.
